When my English guitarist Mick Crossley told me that he didn’t want to fly anymore on environmental grounds after we had just performed at the Metal Magic Festival in Denmark a few years ago, I thought that would be the end of playing with a band and that I would have to go back to performing as an acoustic duo with Annie and friends. But miraculously Max had the inspired idea to form a permanent band in Italy with the added advantage that they could rehearse without me (Annie knows my songs better than I do!) and travel within Europe would be so much easier. But best of all, to my surprise and delight, he picked the three perfect musicians (as if it had been fated to be) and we have become a band – a real band – as this live album proves so well.

The Raindogs was only our 6th gig together, but it’s amazing how tight we’d become and sympatico as the Italians say. The storm that night was incredible – flooding closed the motorway – but inside that club we were steaming. Thanks to Max, Annie, Christian, Alex and our last minute soundguy plus Alberto at Elfo for the mix. Crank it up!
