Zodiac brings together three exceptional musicians from diverse musical backgrounds in a unique cross-cultural collaboration. Italian pianist Alessandra Garosi, a renowned interpreter of contemporary and experimental music, joins forces with Australian multi-instrumentalist Adam Simmons and master percussionist David Jones to reimagine Santini’s monumental Zodiac cycle.
Italian composer Damiano Santini‘s 12-part piano suite reflects the emotional and symbolic essence of each astrological sign. Originally written for solo piano, these pieces have been transformed by the trio into vibrant, richly textured arrangements that blend classical rigor with jazz spontaneity and world music influences.
The ensemble first came together in Melbourne during Garosi’s 2019 Australian tour, building on their earlier collaboration, Zappa in Recital. Their shared musical language and adventurous spirit brought new life to Santini’s work, resulting in a powerful and atmospheric recording.
Zodiac is not just a concert—it’s an astral journey, guided by three visionary artists who push the boundaries of genre, geography, and imagination. The trio arranged and recorded the full cycle of 12 pieces in Melbourne.
