A Mid Autumn Night’s Dream captures a unique one-off concert held at Conservatorio G. Nicolini in Piacenza on October 1st, 2016. Four giants of avant-garde and experimental music – Keith Tippett, Julie Tippetts, Lino Capra Vaccina & Paolo Tofani – performed together for the first and only time. As the lights dimmed, an extraordinary, spontaneous interplay unfolded, inspired by the mystique of night.

Keith Tippett, a legend in british jazz music, a visionary pianist and composer with a 50 year long career full of outsanding gems, his skills go from contemporary jazz to larger compositions for orchestra and classical music.

Julie Tippetts, a remarkable vocalist, has long performed alongside her husband Keith. Their duo album Couple in Spirit reflects their deep artistic and personal connection.

Lino Capra Vaccina, a visionary percussionist who shaped the sound of Aktuala, co-founded Telaio Magnetico with Franco Battiato and Juri Camisasca, and has a solo career that includes seminal albums like Antico Adagio and Metafisiche del Suono, both considered milestones of Italian avant-garde music.

Paolo Tofani is a legendary figure in Italian experimental music, best known for his work with Area in the 1970s. He has collaborated with artists like John Cage, Alvin Curran, and Steve Lacy.

These four incredible musicians never played together before, so this record is a purely spontaneous moment, it flows freely and rapidly from soul to soul.
