John Greaves is very well known for his work with Henry Cow, Slapp Happy, National Health, Soft Heap, not to forget the pivotal meeting with Peter Blegvad, Carla Bley and Michael Mantler, Pip Pyle, Robert Wyatt and many other incredible figures from the music world.
Piacenza is the document of a memorable concert held at the G. Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza as part of the “Musiche Nuove A Piacenza” festival. In an intimate mood, John retraces the highlights of his long and legendary career, performing on a magnificent Steinway Grand Piano. An essential album for refined tastes, recorded to state-of-the-art standards and crowned by a bonus track: “Sea Song” by Robert Wyatt, performed in duet with the very young Annie Barbazza during the soundcheck.
