Dark Companion Records is truly thrilled to welcome this extraordinary band to its family of artists. This album marks their debut on Unifaun Productions. To The Cloud-Cuckoo Land of Color Wheels is the third album by Malesh, a wyrd folk project emerging from the hidden caves of Tuscia. Written and recorded by the duo Pablo Monterisi and Martino Petrella at Domitia Jovian’s Viburnum Studio in Monterano, the album is further enriched by visuals and costumes created in collaboration with Roman artist Rebecca D’Angelo.
This work represents a bold departure from their previous material. Built from layers of found sounds — often arranged to their fullest extent with dozens of instruments — the music is then dismantled and reassembled through a meticulous two-year process of construction and deconstruction. This almost self-destructive approach has given rise to nine remarkably diverse tracks, each unfolding like a fragment of a larger vision. The album traces the imaginative journey of five Etruscan spirits wandering through the ruins of a vanished world, blending echoes of ancient traditions with entirely invented civilizations. Etruscans, Faliscans, Gaels, and even more otherworldly presences coexist in a shifting, dreamlike landscape where past and imagination merge seamlessly.
